Installation

For all our products that are sold in British Columbia, AT Glazing offers quality and timely in-house installation service for residential and commercial projects. At the core of this process is technical knowledge of our windows and doors and highly trained workforce as only correctly executed installation will guarantee proper operation of a glazing system for the entire lifecycle. For individuals and businesses who have already purchased a product from another supplier, we offer installation-only services for local (USA and Canada) and offshore (Europe, Asia) Curtain Wall, Aluminum/Steel/Wood Window and Door Systems. In order to guarantee the final quality we offer “Full Scope” installation meaning that we engage in every step the process described below:

Installation Shop Drawings

For the majority of our projects we prepare shop drawings displaying how the supplied glazing system will be installed in your wall structure and “tied in” to the rest of the building’s components (exterior cladding, interior finishes, flooring). All windows and doors and their proposed installation details are dead load, wind load, and deflection checked by a third party engineer that will prepare all necessary paperwork for submission to your municipality.

Site Measurements and Layout

Before the arrival of the product the job site gets thoroughly inspected and measured to ensure that all openings have been framed correctly and are ready to receive new windows and doors. During this process we finalise installation and envelope details with the general contractor and their team, as well as ensure that finished heights and offsets specified on Shop Drawings are attainable given the site conditions.

Delivery and Site Logistics

Modern windows and doors can reach significant sizes and weights and require proper planning during the earliest stages of construction. AT Glazing takes care of all logistics prior to arrival on site (overseas packaging and shipment, container unloading, transportation to site), coordination and procurement of all the necessary equipment and labour for successful delivery of our products to their final destination.

Waterproofing and Opening Preparation

Our harsh Canadian climate calls for best practices in regards to building envelope design and application. The methods and materials utilised by AT Glazing to ensure water and air tightness of your project are universally accepted by leading Building Science specialists. Building membranes by ProtectoWrap (USA), Soprema (France), SIGA (Switzerland) and high quality sealants by DOW and Tremco (USA) applied by our skilled tradesmen will guarantee that your building will stay dry and warm. Please note AT Glazing does not offer waterproofing of deck surfaces, however we will gladly “tie in” with a compatible material.

Product Installation and Glazing

During the most important step of the entire process our specialists strictly adhere to instructions provided by the manufacturer of the system and engineer approved Shop Drawings to ensure correct installation procedure that will guarantee the service life and operation of the product. Depending on the project our crew will use various machinery to lift and manipulate the oversized positions and glass and access the hard to reach work areas. The builder is presented with a mock-up window installation for approval, while the entire process is constantly communicated to allow for seamless coordination of other trades and site activities.

Flashing
Flashing and Sealant Application

Before other crews are able to carry on with their work, our windows need to be properly detailed with flashings, break shapes, and sealed to create the water and air barrier around the window frame. We offer a selection of prepainted steel and anodized aluminium bent to the desired shape and installed at your project, as well as custom painted or powder coated options for those looking for a perfect match.
